iriveramerica T-10 Reviewed

Yes, it’s a review of iriveramerica.com’s T-10! I seldom do them, but I think it’s warranted in this case. First things first, it’s sturdy, has a decent screen, good battery life (around 30 ~ 40 hours per AA), holds between 512 MB and 1 GB of music. Of course there are always drawbacks. First, absolutely no support for Linux, if you use Linux get something else. vmware’s Workstation product is not a solution, you need an actual Windows XP install and that’s that. Who ever tested the U.I. did a terrible job. Controls are just not intuitive. If the screen’s off, a button has to be pressed twice before you can actually access any controls. If the T-10 is in your pocket there’s no way to know if the screen is on or off, so a tentative key press is always required. The volume, fast forward/ rewind buttons are all located on one large circular button. Normally this works well, but in this case the circular control button is too small. While the screen is nice it’s too small to fit both the artist and title of track. The screen scrolls The headphone jack is located on the side of the T-10, and the provided head phones use a extra long connector. It works well with both Napster’s subscription service, and Windows Media Player.
To summarize, if you use Windows XP and plan on using the shuffle function it’s worth purchasing. If you use Linux or are bugged by shifty U.I.s this is not for you.
