Alternate Install for Windows XP?

What happens when your CD-drive stops working?

So I’ve got an old Toshiba laptop, 650 MHZ P3, and the DVD drive just does not seem to be working properly. What to do? If you’re in the same situation here are your choices:

Yeah, I know, that’s it. Just two options! That thing you can do with Linux, yeah, the one where you can install it on a hard drive in one computer and just pop the drive in another and it all just works, well as far as Microsoft is concerned only software pirates do that. Oh yeah, what about the one where you do a very simple network install with another Linux box, nope sorry Windows Server Edition 2003 required for that. So, really what I was trying to say is that if you’re actually one of those people out there with a broken CD-drive you’re almost out of luck. Luckily I have a spare floppy around here somewhere… if you need it email me and let me know.

Oh yeah, and Microsoft, thanks for the cludgy knowledge base and links.
